Volkswagen have reportedly caved to pressure from workers and shareholders with bosses facing cuts to their bonuses as high as 70%, reports have suggested.
The move has been announced in the wake of the ongoing emissions scandal which has seen the German motor giants currently refusing to pay UK victims of the scandal any compensation at all.
We’re continuing to run a huge group action consisting of thousands of affected customers all on a no win, no fee basis as we remain confident we will succeed in our fight for justice.
Volkswagen’s performance related pay bonus structure is supposedly very lucrative. But as the backbone workers of the 11th wealthiest company in the world (higher than Apple!) continue to deal with the fallout of 11 million vehicles worldwide being fitted with emissions cheating software, and as the shareholders who have lost huge amounts of equity demand justice, it’s the top brass who are now being penalised; and rightly so!
We know in the past that Volkswagen bizarrely tried to blame the whole saga on ‘rogue engineers’ which has only added fuel to the fire of what has been shunned as a PR disaster from start to finish, but you have to remember that it’s the guys at the top who make the big decisions. There were reports of board members claiming no knowledge of the defeat devices until it emerged that high profile figures in the firm were actually aware several years ago.
Cutting Volkswagen bosses bonuses; still not enough!
This small gesture is still not enough though. The victims who have bought vehicles fitted with emissions cheating software are losing out.
The same company who claim they want to win back the trust of their customers, and say their customers are the “priority” are outright refusing to pay due compensation for what has happened. We think this is totally wrong which is why we’re continuing to fight hard for justice for those who have signed up to our group action.
We won’t be giving up; we won’t go quietly in to the night; we will keep fighting tooth and nail for our clients, and we continue to work on our massive action on a no win, no fee basis.
If you want to join our continually growing action, now is the time!
