A Volkswagen emission settlement has finally been reached in England and Wales for tens of thousands of people taking part in the legal action.
Your Lawyers – The Car Emissions Lawyers – are pioneers in emissions compensation claims, having been fighting for justice for claimants since 2015, and having launched the first High Court proceedings in England and Wales.
News of the settlement is welcome, but there is still a great deal of work to do for thousands of other people who are pursuing compensation claims against other carmakers. We continue to take emissions claims on, but there are no guarantees at this late stage and with a settlement already taking place.
Volkswagen emissions settlement reached
A significant multi-million-pound Volkswagen emission settlement has been reached for claimants pursuing legal cases in the Group Litigation Order (GLO) proceedings in England and Wales.
Tens of thousands of claimants are now set to receive compensation following an agreement for the car manufacturer to pay damages arising from the 2015 “Dieselgate” scandal.
The settlement has been somewhat of a long time coming. We have always been confident in being able to achieve success for emissions compensation cases, which is why we have represented our clients on a No Win, No Fee basis. With litigation often being slow in the courts of England and Wales, we knew that it could take some time to reach a conclusion.
We are pleased that the Volkswagen emission settlement has now finally been reached. This is testament to the hard work law firms like us have been putting in to this significant action, which is one of the largest that has ever been seen in this jurisdiction.
Your Lawyers – Leading Car Emissions Lawyers
We are Your Lawyers – Leading Car Emissions Lawyers. As soon as the news of the “Dieselgate” scandal hit the media headlines in 2015, we immediately considered that there was a case to answer. Right away, we started accepting compensation claims on a No Win, No Fee basis, formally retaining clients for our legal services.
As such, we have been right there since the beginning. At a time when many other firms were simply registering people’s interests and not actively pursuing cases, we were moving real cases forward.
Because of this, we were the first law firm to issue High Court proceedings in England and Wales in January 2016. We were later appointed to the Steering Committee responsible for the overall conduct of the litigation, representing thousands of clients for compensation claims.
Now, we are actively pursuing compensation cases against dozens of carmakers facing allegations of cheating emissions testing. Whilst the Volkswagen emission settlement is just for the cases within that group, we continue our separate investigations into other carmakers. We remain of the view that other vehicle manufacturers may be guilty of similar behaviour.
Do not miss out on emissions compensation
Since news of the Volkswagen emissions settlement hit the headlines, we have been inundated with fresh enquiries from people wanting to take part in legal action. We have taken on a number of new claims and continue to do so.
Unfortunately, some have missed out on the settlement that has taken place because of not proceeding with their cases earlier. There may still be a chance to claim, but there are absolutely no guarantees at all.
We continue to pursue compensation claims against other manufacturers in the meantime.
You can find out now if you are eligible to join a legal action by starting a compensation claim here now. Once the claim has been initially accepted, we can then look to validate the case to see if it is something that we can continue with further.
It is important to remember that we regularly warn people about making sure to start a claim as soon as possible. It is common for people to avoid starting a claim or leaving it until it is too late. Previously, we have had to turn away huge numbers of people who we can no longer represent because they missed deadlines and settlements. Once a settlement hits the news, it can be common for people to then follow up their original enquiries to see if we can still help them. In some cases, we cannot help, so we stress again that you must always start a claim for compensation as soon as possible or you simply risk potentially missing out.
