The German VW investigations have reached another development as VW’s chairman of the supervisory board, Hans Dieter Potsch, has allegedly violated securities laws, which is being investigated in the criminal probe launched earlier this year in June.
The ongoing headache for the German car giants isn’t set to end anytime soon. With 11 million vehicles affected worldwide, this is one of the biggest scandals in history, and the importance of both civil claims and criminal investigations has never been more prominent.

It’s amazing how VW can appear to use deflective techniques in an attempt to move on from the emissions scandal while refusing their customers – i.e. the victims – their right to compensation. With their new electric vehicles project and the settlement agreement in the U.S., it seems as if VW believe they are recovering well from the scandal.
But this is far from the truth, as the company continues to fend off legal proceedings in multiple jurisdictions, and we won’t be backing down!

VW has come under fire again as allegations that Audi Chief Rupert Stadler knew of the “defeat device” software since he joined the Board in 2010.
American Law firm Jones Day were responsible for internally investigating the claims and, during the questioning, they asked Stadler what he knew about it and when he found out about the “defeat devices”.

Between 2009 and 2015 Volkswagen installed ‘defeat devices’ (software that cheated emissions testing) in their models making their cars appear better for the environment. The software allowed the cars to fool emissions testing by knowing when to switch the emissions control software on. When the car was not being tested, the software was switched off, and the cars emitted nitrogen oxide up to 40 times more.
The Volkswagen emissions scandal has impacted a substantial amount of people across the globe. Not only that, it’s affecting businesses all around the world too.

After the emission scandal, South Korea has taken the big step of halting the sale of 80 Volkswagen models whilst investigations continue in to the emission scandal that Volkswagen is at the heart of.
Most of the models that had been showcased for sale were recently removed. It is alleged that the affected vehicles had falsified documents for the emissions and the sound-level tests.
The environment minister made a statement saying:
“As of August the 2nd, we have revoked the certification of 83,000 vehicles of 80 models”.
Campaigners say that the British government is wrongfully failing to investigate pollution levels from vehicles in the aftermath of the Volkswagen Emissions Scandal.
We know there are differences between the results the lab tests produce and the real world conditions, but in light of what has happened with the Volkswagen Emissions Scandal, environmentalists are saying that more could have been done, and more should be done moving forward.

Volkswagen engineers at the heart of the investigation in to the massive worldwide emissions scandal (AKA “dieselgate”) reportedly used “code words” to cover their tracks for rigging the emissions data of vehicles.
The software they developed could tell when the vehicle was being tested and when it wasn’t – which was how the emissions controls knew to turn on during tests and switch off the rest of the time.
To shroud what was really going on, it’s been reported that a series of “code words” were used.

The big question – just how long ago did the German automotive giants have plans or ideas in place to solve their emissions problems by cheating the system?
Some bosses have claimed no knowledge at all; some have admitted finding out in the last couple of years; but in reality it’s hard to know just how long they may have had this planned unless people own up to it.
Fresh news has emerged that suggests Volkswagen may have had this planned, or considered taking such action, as far back as 1999 – a damning revelation, if true.

The Volkswagen HQ in Germany has been raided by prosecutors as part of the criminal investigations following the revelations that the Volkswagen Group have been fitting ‘defeat devices’ in to diesel engines to cheat fuel emission testing.
These sophisticated devices are coded to know when the vehicle is undergoing testing to only switch on emissions controls during any perceived test period. With around 11 million vehicles worldwide affected, the scandal is widening, and more is emerging about just how far back the bosses at VW have known.
