Jeep emissions compensation action

FCA, a parent company of the Jeep brand, is alleged to have cheated emissions testing, which could be by means of illicit defeat devices, although the carmaker strongly denies any wrongdoing at all.

The allegations against Jeep are similar to those made against a number of car manufacturers, all of which emerged after the news of Volkswagen “dieselgate” scandal that was first reported in 2015. It was discovered that Volkswagen was suspected of using defeat device technology to disguise the emissions output of their diesel vehicles, meaning they were producing much more NOx emissions than regulatory limits allowed.

The FCA group was one such company and, although investigations took some time to get underway, in 2019, an FCA senior employee reportedly faced criminal charges after allegedly lying about emissions output to regulators even after the Volkswagen dieselgate scandal came to light.

Having already paid out hundreds of millions of dollars to affected owners in the US, the FCA group’s offices in Italy, Switzerland and Germany were raided in July 2020 as part of investigations into alleged emissions fraud. As one of the brands under the FCA umbrella, Jeep has naturally been implicated as part of this.

Jeep emissions compensation claims

Those who own or have previously owned (or lease/leased) potentially affected vehicles may be able to make Jeep emissions compensation claims. While we cannot know for sure which diesel vehicles may have been allegedly fitted with defeat devices, Jeep’s Cherokee, Renegade, Compass, and Wrangler models are currently under suspicion. The suspected cars that may be affected are thought to have been manufactured between 2008 and 2020.
