Following the High Court ruling that Volkswagen impacted emissions testing by using defeat devices in vehicles, we are investigating allegations against other car manufacturers. Our Mercedes emissions case is an important one, as the carmaker is also implicated in the emissions scandals of recent years.

We have already taken on many claims for the customers who may have been affected by the alleged emissions irregularities. As things stand, the carmaker denies that they have done anything wrong at all.

It is alleged that Mercedes may also have cheated emissions tests, with the potential cost being the excessive production of NOx emissions. If you own, or have owned, one of the affected vehicles, you may be eligible to make a compensation claim. We are determined to ensure that all the emissions allegations are thoroughly investigated and that any guilty manufacturers are held to account for any alleged deceitful practices that are found to have taken place.

The basis of our Mercedes emissions case

Since the revelation of the Volkswagen dieselgate scandal in 2015, several carmakers have been implicated in allegations that they may also have cheated emissions tests. Mercedes, as one such manufacturer, has subsequently issued a recall for certain models, contacting owners who can then choose whether or not to take their car to a dealership for software updates relating to engines or emissions.

Anyone who has been contacted about the updates may be eligible to make a compensation claim. Whether the software update affects the performance of your vehicle, or if it is found that your vehicle has not been compliant with emissions regulations, you may be entitled to recover damages.

In our Mercedes emissions case, we anticipate that we will be able to bring claims forward on the basis that the manufacturer or the dealership allegedly misled you upon the purchase of your car.

Your emissions compensation claim

If Mercedes is found to have broken emissions regulations, our Mercedes emissions case could mean that Claimants are entitled to recover substantial compensation amounts for the affected car owners. Where the performance of your car has been affected by any software updates, potentially reducing its value, this could be taken into account in a claim.

In cases where the CPUT (Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations) applies, claimants could receive between 25% to 100% of the purchase price of their vehicle. For some claimants, this could be equivalent to tens of thousands of pounds in compensation.
