According to Unearthed, Greenpeace UK’s award-winning journalism project, the European “fix” for vehicles affected by the “dieselgate” scandal is nowhere near as effective as the US version.
As many of you already know,Volkswagen has offered compensation packages, buyback schemes and paid huge amounts of money in fines in the US, yet here in the UK they claim they have not broken any laws and are defiantly defending the legal case against them.
The news that the “fix” is less effective is another concern for European consumers who are still being refused compensation.

As if the knife in the back isn’t painful enough, Volkswagen has had the audacity to suggest U.K. drivers are to blame for keeping “dirty diesel” cars on the roads because they haven’t had the questionable updates implemented.
That is, Volkswagen – the company that made millions of cars fitted with so-called “defeat devices” that are illegal, and therefore deceived millions into buying their cars that pollute more NOx than they should do – and are now blaming the drivers for not fixing them when the only “fix” available is one that potentially has the capacity to compromise vehicle performance and cause a whole host of costly problems.
We’ve received a lot of complaints from VW owners whose cars have suffered after having the “technical measures” applied. The post-fix issues are real!

Ms Higgins, a nurse from Boyle, County Roscommon asserts that she suffered a loss as a result of the VW scandal and is claiming for damages. Her claim was first brought to the Castlebar District Court in May 2016, and during a hearing on 6th September, the Volkswagen group legal team alleged that the Court didn’t have jurisdiction, and rudely (and somewhat controversially) they walked out of court!
The lawyers reportedly left before an expert scientist spoke about the impact of the emissions, and before an economist was able to speak about the losses inflicted by the scandal. On 15th September, Volkswagen Group Ireland and Volkswagen AG initiated a High Court judicial review.

It has been over two years since Volkswagen admitted to fitting devices into their vehicles since 2009 that can be clearly defined as so-called “defeat devices”. Instead of compensating the customers that we say have been lied to and cheated, the major car maker pledged to apply “technical measures” to the 1.2 million vehicles carrying the alleged “defeat devices” in the U.K. that allow vehicles to emit excessive levels of harmful NOx pollution.
However, the Head of the Environmental Audit Committee, Mary Creagh MP, has reviewed the number of corrective measures carried out and it seems that the “fixes” have “stalled”.

Taxi driver John Denholm was reportedly unable to work for 11 days when his VW Passat broke down after having the so-called “fix” applied to correct emissions irregularities. The software update was carried out on his vehicle to lower the excessive NOx emissions his VW car was casting out. Unfortunately, we have found that the “fix” also carries risk of problems, including cars suddenly breaking down.
In this instance, Mr Denholm suffered problems after the “fix” had been carried out and was able to claim for lost earnings directly attributed to him being unable to use his vehicle.

It came to light in 2015 that Volkswagen had fitted 11 million of their vehicles worldwide with so-called “defeat devices” that could ensure they passed lawful emissions testing whilst polluting far more dangerous NOx in real world conditions.
We currently represent thousands of victims of the scandal here in the U.K.

After refusing compensation to VW customers here in the U.K., VW have been issuing a software/technical “fix” that supposedly resolves the issue of the increased NOx from the so-called “defeat devices” installed in vehicles.
Nearly 1.2 million vehicles here in the U.K. are installed with the device that allows vehicles to produce more NOx by altering emissions-reducing controls in real world driving conditions.
At present, more than half of these vehicles have been “fixed”, but evidence suggests that the “fix” may be causing problems in some vehicles, and some of these issues may even be potentially putting people at risk.

Luxury automaker Audi are voluntarily recalling 870,000 diesel-powered vehicles in order to “fix” installed emissions software that allows vehicles to pass official testing through means, that we say, stem from deception.
Owned by the Volkswagen Group, Audi has left many long and loyal customers absolutely dismayed over revelations of their involvement in this scandal. Audi is famous for marketing its cars as technologically advanced and its diesel cars as innovative and eco-friendly; but it turns out this wasn’t the case at all…

Owners who refuse to undertake VW’s emissions “fix” software update in Germany are to be deregistered, according to new reports.
The German automaker who are denying liability for wrongdoing in Europe has recalled approximately 11 million vehicles worldwide… VW, Audi, SEAT and Skoda models with 1.2, 1.6 and 2.0 EA 189 diesel engines manufactured between 2009 and 2015.
The emissions “fix” is there to apparently resolve the crisis. Now, fresh reports state that those affected owners who refuse it are to be deregistered.

VW has reported they’ve bought-back or repaired just over half of the 475,000 cheating 2.0-litre diesel vehicles.
After being caught installing so-called “defeat devices” in over 11 million vehicles worldwide, which allowed some vehicles to pollute 40 times more dangerous NOx than they should have been doing, the German manufacturer has pleaded guilty to fraud, obstruction of justice and falsifying statements as part of a $4.3 billion (£3.4 billion) settlement with the U.S. Justice Department in relation to 475,000 2.0 litre diesel engines.
But it seems to still be slow-going when it comes to resolving the crisis; both over in the States as well as here in the U.K.

It’s just problem after problem for VW.
Although VW U.K. has tried to rectify their emissions wrongdoing by offering a free software upgrade to all affected vehicles, many owners have reported adverse effects and alleged that it’s because of the ‘fix’.
And the reports of problems continue to flood in.

It’s been months since Volkswagen publically reminded us that compensating victims of the scandal in the UK was unnecessary because a simple ‘fix’ would solve everything.
Victims here were not happy to hear this, especially when U.S. customers are receiving up to $40,000 each through generous buy-back schemes and compensation payouts.
We already know that the so-called ‘fix’ may be causing issues because many of our own clients have reported problems. So, we weren’t surprised to hear that Swedish testing has also revealed issues with VW’s so-called ‘fix’ as well.
The damning evidence is mounting…
