A Toyota Dieselgate class action has been formally launched in Australia, which could see as many as half a million people pursue the Japanese car giant for compensation.
Toyota is one of dozens of carmakers across the world facing various allegations, court actions and prosecutions over alleged emissions cheating. Stemming from the original Dieselgate scandal involving Volkswagen back in 2015, we are now at a stage where many more vehicle manufacturers face allegations of wrongdoing.
We represent thousands of people claiming compensation against dozens of carmakers. The defendants strongly deny that they have done anything wrong, but we believe that there is enough information and evidence to pursue the cases we are doing. We are also representing clients on a No Win, No Fee basis, and you can sign up for an emissions compensation claim by completing a few forms on our website here now.
According to international media reports, a Toyota Dieselgate class action has been formally launched in the Supreme Court of Victoria in Australia. The allegations in the class action are that Toyota Australia stands accused of selling hundreds of thousands of diesel models in Australia that could allegedly be fitted with technology that could amount to a defeat device.
It is understood that as many as half a million owners of various models could be eligible to join the group action in Australia. Whilst this is a matter that is outside UK jurisdiction, it is all a part of the wider global fight for emissions justice relating to allegations that dozens of carmakers may have deployed technology to cheat emissions regulations.
It is understood that the Toyota Dieselgate class action will be rigorously defended by the Australian wing of the Japanese automotive giant.
The Toyota dieselgate class action Australia is an entirely separate matter to the group legal actions that are being pursued for people here in the UK. We represent thousands of people claiming compensation against dozens of vehicle manufacturers over allegations that technology may have been used to cheat emissions laws. As with the case in Australia, Toyota denies that it has done anything wrong here in the UK.
In terms of the legal cases for compensation here, we are not yet at a stage where we have a formal Group Litigation Order (GLO). However, anyone who owns or leases, or previously owned or leased, a Toyota model over the last decade or so could be eligible to join our No Win, No Fee legal action for compensation.
We are investigating claims and representing our clients on a No Win, No Fee basis, which means that we can write off our legal fees if the case does not succeed, subject to the agreed terms and conditions in place. We work this way because we believe in access to justice.
