A deal is being reportedly offered to victims of the US Volkswagen Emissions Scandal which could see consumers paid $5,000 in compensation with an offer to buy back their affected vehicles, sources close to the deal say.

Around 600,000 vehicles are affected in the U.S. – half the number of affected vehicles in the UK – and more money is due to be set aside as part of the package.

This development is welcome news for victims affected worldwide who are now looking to the German car giants at the centre of the scandal to put similar deals in place across the globe.

We’re currently acting for thousands of affected customers here in the UK, but the response to our action from Volkswagen has so far been a refusal to pay compensation. Our team remain confident that we will succeed against them as we continue to act for thousands of victims on a No Win, No Fee basis.

The American justice system is of course different to what we have here and has allowed for greater pressure on Volkswagen stateside, but rest assured we continue to put our own pressure on Volkswagen here now we have formally issued court proceedings.

“No loss” say VW

The response from lawyers acting for Volkswagen here in the UK is that victims of their emissions cheating scandal have not suffered any loss. This, in our view, is absurd; especially when you consider the fact that expert reports have concluded there will be serious changes in vehicle performance and fuel consumption when the recall is done.

It’s even more absurd when you look at the effect on the market for VW vehicles so far, and the fact that many people are no longer wanting to buy Volkswagen Group vehicles.

These factors will no doubt have an impact on the resale value of vehicles, as well as the fact that people will end up with vehicles that could feel very different indeed.

Now is the time to join our action

We’ve issued court proceedings for Volkswagen’s refusal to pay compensation which means there may be cut off dates imposed by the Court. We can’t control when these dates will be, and if you miss them, you could face losing your right to claim compensation at all.

We’re acting for thousands of people on a No Win, No Fee basis – to join our action call 0800 634 75 75 or contact us here now.
